I started The Rough Stuff as a way to stay connected to the game I love while I recover from an injury that’s ended my 2025 season a bit earlier than planned. I played a little golf when I was a junior, however in Scotland when you reach the ripe old age of 17 you have a few choices to make. At that time I gave up the golf and focused on “other endeavours”. Now in my 30’s, I have taken the game back up and it has unexpectedly taking over all of my free time.
This blog is my place to share that passion. You’ll mostly find equipment reviews — drivers, irons, balls, bags, and everything in between — but I’ll also be writing about courses, golf holidays, and a bit of my own journey as I work towards getting down into single figures.
I’m not here to push products or sugarcoat things. What you’ll get is the same as how I talk about golf with my mates: straightforward, honest, and hopefully helpful. If I think something’s great, I’ll tell you why. If I think it misses the mark, I’ll tell you that too.
At the end of the day, golf is about more than fairways and greens — it’s about the rough stuff as well, and everything we learn from it.
